Title: Effectiveness and Motivation of Students to Learn Football in PE Lesson by Blended Learning Model

Abstract:

Background: Technology is one of the tools that has been used to change the educational environment and the changes have been accepted to accomplish some of the learning objectives, such as linking students' ability to the environment. One of the approaches that use technology is the Blended Learning Model. The objective of this study is to investigate the effectiveness and motivation that students are likely to be exposed to when they are engaged in Physical Education, using the Blended Learning model to learn football. The proposal targets approximately Fifty students in Hong Kong who are in secondary two to four. There were five double lessons for one unit for five weeks. After five weeks, students need to complete the assessment in order to test the soccer skill level in the last lesson. The participants of this research would be grouped into two groups, the experiment group, and the control group, with each cluster having 25 members. The experimental group taught by the Blended Learning Model. The control group taught by the direct teaching method. At the end of the test, due to soccer is an open-skill sport, need to make a lot of decision during the game, therefore, the effectiveness of the learning approach will be assessed among all the participants using the Game performance assessment(GPAI). Soccer is an open-skill sport, need to make a lot of decision during the game. The research will also adopt the use of questionnaires to supplement the quantitative analysis of assessing motivation among the participants who used the blended learning approach. The quantitative data is the complement to propose different analyses and improvements.

Title: An investigation of the use of cooperative learning in teaching soccer lesson in secondary school on students’ learning efficiency and motivation

Abstract:

The motivation and students’ learning efficiency are the most essential to teachers of any subject especially to Physical Education. When students with low motivation in Pe lesson, PE teachers find it hard to conduct the lesson to achieve good learning efficiency. Therefore, applying different teaching methods is a way to obtain this target. There are lots of teaching methods for applying except the original teaching method- direct teaching. It is the reason why the aim of this project is to investigate whether the cooperative learning method helps to promote the motivation and learning efficiency of students during Physical Education lessons with the lesson topic about soccer. The experiment will be conducted in four lessons with four continuous weeks. Forty Secondary 1 students will be invited to participate in the experiment in order to find out whether applying cooperative learning can help to improve students’ learning efficiency, motivation in PE lessons with the topic of soccer. The result of the study shows that the post-test about learning efficiency and motivation are significantly increased. It is indicatively higher than the pre-test. Thus, the result reveals that the use of cooperative learning in teaching soccer lessons in secondary school is beneficial to promote students’ learning efficiency and motivation.

Title: The effect of mobile application (Home Court) in secondary school basketball players on dribbling skills and agility skills

Abstract

This project’s title is ‘The effect of mobile application (Home Court) in secondary school basketball players on dribbling skills and agility skills.’. In COVID- 19 period, athlete could not go to the basketball court to do their training. So, this project aims to compare with agility skills and dribbling skill between training with the use of mobile app (HomeCourt) and 6 male basketball players who have no recent injury that required medical attention, significant musculoskeletal, neurological, cardiorespiratory, or mental disordered, recruited from secondary school without using homecourt. After making comparison, we could get whether training with the use of mobile app (HomeCourt) can enhance the personal skill level such as agility skills and dribbling skill or not. For methodology of research, agility skills were measured by Lateral Quickness Test, Agility Hurdles Test and Lateral Hop test in outdoors basketball court. Dribbling skill were measured the time that how long can participates dribbling a full basketball count with 8 cones setting. Demographic information such as age, sex, body weight, height, body mass index, habitual physical activity level (IPAQ short form), training frequency (times/week), intensity (hours/week, light/moderate/hard) and experience (years) were collected for analysis. Participants completed all tests within 2 hours. For statistical analysis, this project used t- test and pre- test and post- test.
