Intermediate Dance

8310: INTERMEDIATE DANCE: 5 credits

Grades 9-12

Prerequisites: Beginner or by audition in January

Intermediate techniques in ballet, modern, and jazz dance will be covered. Other dance styles such as hip-hop and multicultural forms may be included. Students in Intermediate Dance will be given experience in the process of creating original choreography, learn dance history and dance critique skills. All students will be required to perform in the spring dance concert as their final exam for the course.

Course Goals and Objectives:

  • Students will continue dance technique training in various styles.

  • Students will develop skills in the choreographic process.

  • Students will develop understanding of the health and wellness of a dancer.

  • Students will embody dance historians contributions and styles.

  • Students will develop their critique skills for dance.

  • Students will self-evaluate their progress throughout the year.
