Grading Policies

Each dance course has a different grading weight per assignment category. It is important to know that we do not grade on how flexible a dancer is or how many turns they can do. Especially with the lower level classes, we grade more on effort and participation. The Advanced and CTE courses are graded more heavily on technique however this is not their only grade. Dancers may have movement exams, written exams, reflective journal entries, group projects or creative projects.

All classes have a final exam of a concert (except Integrated Dance). ATTENDANCE IS MANDATORY FOR ALL REHEARSALS AND PERFORMANCES. We cannot offer a "make-up" concert date. Any student injured will be given another job/project to be graded on depending on the injury.

If we are not permitted to have an in person performance by May 2021, we will have a virtual performance.

Sickness/Injuries: When you are sick or injured and cannot dance, you need to provide us with a doctor’s note. If you are just “not feeling great” and are not planning on going to the doctor, you are allowed 2 observations days for the year. You will sit and fill out an observation sheet during these 2 days. Any days you do not dance and do not have a doctor’s note, you will receive a zero for that day. Extended injuries will require a research project however this will be on a case-by-case basis.
