As we approach the the last half term of the year, Year 6 have had an extremely busy, hard-working, and fun last few weeks! It's ranged from revision first thing in a morning, working super hard on a reading test, to being sky-high on the high ropes, swinging on the giant swing and sleeping in dorms for the very first time with their friends!
You all should be super proud for everything your children have achieved this whole school year, but in particular, the last few weeks. This could be for sleeping away from home for the very first time, it could be giving their all in the Maths test, or it could be showing true grit and determination in the cross country- it's really had it all this half term!
SATs
In the build up, first of all, your children have shown a super work ethic to come in so early and work so hard, fine tuning their maths and reinforcing their learning.
The SATs are now complete and your children (and you) can fully relax! They all did amazing. They've worked really hard and we could not have asked any more of them. We started with our SPAG, where the children were remembering some of the key terminology that they'd learned throughout the year. We then moved on to reading and then the three parts of the maths test.
Each day, the children loved eating their breakfast with their friends and chatting away. This enabled them to become relaxed too.
Of course, SATs week finished off with fish and chips and an afternoon in the park! Despite seeing all four seasons within these couple of hours, it was a great way to finish off! For us staff too!
Residential
Year 6 went on their residential to Herd Farm for 2 nights. The children had such an amazing time. They were climbing high ropes, going on the giant swing, toasting marshmallows around a campfire, and taking on the obstacle course, to just name some of the things. The children showed so much support for each other and encouraged their friends to challenge themselves and go out of their comfort zone. It was great to witness! The children will have memories to last a lifetime and a great week to finish of this half term!
PE
In PE this half term, we have been working on racquet and batting sports and the children have excelled. Lots of children have been keen to play these at play times too! Some great competitiveness, balanced with good sportsmanship shown amongst the children too, which has been fantastic to see!
We wish you all a very happy half term holiday and we will see you back for the last half term at Foxhill!
