The start of the Summer Term has been great in Year 3. I cannot believe how quickly it has flown. We have been so busy this half term, but then I say that every half term. We cram so much learning into each day. Some of our favourite's this half term have been Science, DT and getting outside for some Tournaments. Take a look at our photos below to see some of the fun we have had.
Design Technology!
In DT we have been learning about some healthy meals that we can have to jazz up lunches and teas. We made stuffed peppers and rainbow noodles salad. We continued to practise the claw and bridge methods when cutting. Year 3 talked about how it is important to try new foods and how important learning about healthy cooking is. Both dishes included lots of vegetables. We thought about the links between a healthy diet and our mental health. Ask your children how to make the dishes and try them at home. Year 3 also tried to keep tidy when they were cooking, which was a bit of a task.

In Art, Year 3 have been exploring different ways to use paint creatively. We experimented with a range of techniques, including using masking tape to create negative spaces and interesting shapes. The children also used bubble wrap and cocktail sticks to add texture, pattern and fine details through the paint, creating some very effective artwork.

Science-Forces
In Science, Year 3 have been learning about forces and friction. We investigated how different surfaces affect how far a ball travels, comparing smoother and rougher materials. The children then made thoughtful links to real life by thinking about how cars move on different road surfaces, especially during the icy winter weather we often experience in Queensbury!

The Cross Country Tournament
Year 3 took part in the KS2 Cross Country Tournament this half term too.
It was very hard and tiring, but we are so happy we completed it.
Great to get outdoors for fresh air and exercise.
Also a bit of a warm up for the colour run.

I am looking forward to the last half term of Year Three. Another trip to look forward to, more outdoor activities, the continued fun and the Summer weather (hopefully).
Have a wonderful Spring Bank Holiday.
Thank you, as always, for your wonderful support this term, with reading, homework, and so much more.
