Spring Term 1
This term, we’ve been busy enhancing our physical development both in the outdoor area and during PE! The children have been building great balance and spatial awareness through some of their favourite activities—like 'walking the plank,' navigating the tunnel, and finding their footing on the stepping stones.
Beyond our books, we have been busy building impressive structures inspired by our favourite stories. Our home corner has also undergone a total transformation! It is now a bustling hub featuring a doctor's surgery, a police station, and a fire station, allowing the children to truly immerse themselves in role-play as they explore the lives of those who work while we sleep.
Our recent stories, The Way Back Home and Astro Girl, took us on a journey through outer space! To bring our learning to life, we baked 'moon bread,' crafted rocket fruit kebabs, and enjoyed drawing our favourite scenes during our LauLau sessions.
We also explored the world after dark through our book, All Through The Night. This sparked a fantastic discussion about the differences between day and night, as well as the important roles people play while we sleep. It was wonderful to see the children sharing photos of their own families at work, which led to some very inspiring conversations about what we all want to be when we grow up!
This term, we fully immersed ourselves in Arts Week, choosing to explore the vibrant culture of India. We were inspired by the geometric work of S.H. Raza, identifying the various shapes in his masterpieces to help us create our own unique artworks. Following our individual projects, the children joined forces for a large-scale collaborative piece using a wide range of tools and materials!
The creativity didn’t stop there—we also found our rhythm with Bollywood dancing. After watching some incredible performances, we took to the floor to try the moves ourselves, discussing how the upbeat music and energetic movements made us feel.
We hope you all have a wonderful half-term break, and we will see you after the holidays!
