Wow, what a busy half-term we have had in Nursery!
Outdoor play
We have loved to be outside in all weathers this term, we have explored in the den, outdoor area and during our OPAL time. We have been working on our gross motor skills, moving and balancing. We were especially excited when we had a surprise visit from the snow! We have all been learning to put on our own coats and zip them up.
Our story My Family and Other Families was about families at the fair, the children loved our own candy floss and popcorn stalls in our role play area.
We have drawn our self-portrait in ICT after reading The Same but Different Too and talking about what makes us all different. We also looked at different animals and their body parts.
We have also started our LauLau songdrawing journey. The children have loved this so far, including gross motor movement into early mark making. So far, we have drawn butterflies and snails and had lots of fun making marks to music!
This half term in Maths, we have looked at at shapes, patterns and numbers.
We have learnt about size and what might fit inside different-sized boxes! We have used our song drawing to learn about how many sides different shapes have.
We have used a range of resources to practice our numbers and can now see amounts to 3 without counting!
We have been looking at patterns and figuring out what might come next. We looked at our daily routine and what order we do things in.
In Understanding the world we started off by looking at baby pictures, we talked about the ways we have changed and things we can do now that we are grown up. The children loved to figure out who was who!
We have spent time learning about different festivals and celebrations such as Bonfire night, Diwali and Remembrance day.
We have looked at magnets in science and got busy finding things that are magnetic and not! We found that most metal objects were magnetic.
To finish off the half term, we have been discussing special events and times in our family. The children all enjoyed sharing their special time with the class.
We have been busy getting ready for Christmas, and all been involved in helping to decorate our classroom.
We have especially enjoyed our own Polar Express set-up in our small world area. We talked about Winter and what clothes we might need to wear in Winter and what clothes are for Summer.
We practised a lot for our Christmas singalong, and we thank you all for coming to join us. I am sure you can all agree that the children were fabulous!
We hope you all have a wonderful festive break and we will see you in the new year!
