Laundry by Dingy

The "Fortunate 2" is equipped with a combo washer/dryer.

We typically use our onboard washer/dryer combo unit to do our laundry.

Then why in the world would we take our laundry somewhere else to do? Good question....I am glad you asked.

When we are docked at a slip in a marina we have an endless supply of fresh potable water and electricity. When we anchor out or stay on a mooring we consume water from the boat's on board fresh water holding tank. So we conserve water for showers, dishes, ice maker, and toilets (also know as "Heads" on a boat).

Electricity is the other thing we conserve when we anchor or stay on a mooring. The "Fortunate 2" has two other sources of electricity, solar/battery power and a generator. If we can conserve enough electric the solar panels will keep up with most of our needs and the solar power is "Free". When needed we run the generator. We are pretty self sufficient when it comes to water and electric, however we do have to be aware of our usage since it is not endless.

So to be conservative we take and load our laundry into the dingy and head to the marina were they provide a laundromat.

Our holding tank gauges keep us abreast of our usage.

The solar panels are the 3 black panels on top of the "Fortunate 2".

The diesel generator, located in the engine room, provides all of the power needed to operate everything on the "Fortunate 2".
