Cleaning the A/C Strainer

Sept 14 2019

First Corona to get into the mood before starting A/C maintenance at noon.

Cleaning the A/C strainer and flushing the lines.

Where we are currently located this maintenance task needs done approximately every 10 days.

It normally takes 1 to 2 hours....give or take some. It varies depending on whether the lines and/or thru-hull fittings need cleaned.

And the number of Corona breaks required....you know....one needs an attitude adjustment now and then when doing these things!

Shut off A/C

First thing is to shut off the 4 A/C units and the water circulating pump at the ships electrical breaker panel.

A/C thru-hull

Gaining access to the A/C thru-hull fittings.

Remove Head Board

Once the head board of the bed in the guest stateroom is removed the fittings can be cleaned.

A/C Strainer Access

To gain access to the A/C strainer a panel has to be removed in the master stateroom.

AC Strainer is

located in the engine room.

Behind and

below the generator.

All that work

has to be done working thru the opening from the master stateroom.

Now it's time

to flush the A/C lines which is done in the engine room. Sue and I have headsets on so we can communicate. She helps with this part of the cleaning.

A/C Done

OK, two and a half hours, start to finish.

So how many Coronas did it take?

One to get me started and two Corona breaks in between.

Once completed my reward to myself for a job well done.....chillaxin' with a gin and tonic on my "Lido" deck!
