This year, you can choose to complete your professional development in an intense workshop model with two days of training prior to the start of school, on August 11 and August 14. To meet our goal of ongoing and reflective professional learning, participants can expect to share their learning and progress with topics in PLCs.
This three-day workshop that takes place from July 11-13 at Ignite Instittue, is designed to help educators develop learning experiences that lead to sustained changes in practice, using tried-and-true strategies for Project Based Learning (PBL). During the workshop, we will use our content standards, knowledge of students, and profile of learner competencies to design a project for our students.
For this option, teacher will earn 9 hours of District PD and can request additional PD credit for flex PD from their building administrators.
Teachers who participate in the 3 day training can expect support in implementing their project.
Join University of Louiville's, Meghan Martin on the campus of Highlands High School to explore MTSS through an depth workshop on August 11 and August 14.
Strategic Plan Connection: Indvidual Student Growth
Participants will explore an introduction to PBL on August 11 and on August 14 they will get hands on experience with PBL in a PBL Works Project Slice.
In a Project Slice, you feel what it's like to be a learner in a high-quality PBL classroom.
Participants engage as learners in a one-day project that models the key features of the PBL process. The day mirrors the flow of a larger project, beginning with an engaging launch/entry event and authentic driving question. Teams work together to build knowledge, understanding and success skills, and develop and critique products and answers to the driving question.
The day culminates with team presentations of their products, followed by structured reflection on what they have learned about PBL. At key moments throughout the day, participants are encouraged to reflect on the pedagogical moves they are experiencing as PBL learners, as well as implications for their own contexts
