VCMS clinic
Attention all 8th Grade Students:
Scoliosis screenings will be completed Tuesday September 17th during Connections.
ALL students will be screened UNLESS a refusal form is on file.
The refusal form can be found online in your Parent Portal or a paper copy can be submitted to the clinic as well.
The deadline to opt out is Tuesday 9/17.

VCMS Band
The VCMS 8th grade band participated in the FCHS 8th Grade Night on Friday, August 23rd.
Students performed in the stands and on the field at the FCHS football game.
It was a blast!

The Viper Football Players and Football Sideline Cheerleaders are in full swing! Come out this Fall and enjoy some football and help the cheerleaders lead our Vipers to victory!

Basketball Clinic @ VCMS
Join West Forsyth Forsyth High's DECA Club at their fundraiser on September 15.
The proceeds support Gigi's Playhouse.
VCMS Debate Team
We are excited to begin our Viper Debate Team!
We will have an interest meeting on September 10th at 8:00 am. Students who are interested in debate will meet to discuss what the Debate Team will look this year.
We will have tryouts for the debate team later in the month.

Welcome Back!
This month has been all about introducing our newest Vipers to their Vickery Creek Middle School Media Center. We had a ton of fun taking 'Shelfies' during our 6th grade MC Orientation scavenger hunt. Many students have spent time in the media center not only choosing a great read, but making music with friends, building with Legos, and playing many, many games of chess, checkers, and Uno. We're off to a great start!

Fall Festival
Join us for the annual Fall Festival on 9/13 from 4:30-7.
Students are welcome to stay after school for it! This is a free event with inflatables, games, a Photo Booth, air brush tattoos, and a DJ. There will also be food trucks selling food but all activities are free!
Families are invited and encouraged to join!

Mr. Piper
"Eruption," co-written by Michael Crichton and finished by James Patterson, is a fast moving novel that combines Crichton's signature scientific expertise with Patterson's unique storytelling. What was particularly fascinating to me at first was that, not only do I teach earth science, I visit volcanoes as a hobby...and this book delves into the catastrophic power of volcanoes head on. Further, this novel is an even more compelling read knowing the unusual circumstance of its creation as the great Michael Crichton passed away in the middle of writing it and with another big name, James Patterson, completing the story based on Crichton's notes! This collaboration, I feel, has resulted in a suspenseful and scientifically-based narrative that would captivate anyone interested in natural disasters or thrillers.

I haven't made it very far into the book yet, but the setting of wild Alaska in the 1970's is very interesting!
Mr. Doyle
A lowborn miner infiltrates the upper echelon of society to avenge his wife’s death. A fairly dystopian read about the lengths one will go to for revenge.
Ms. Cregan
Summer Sisters by Judy Blume is set in the 1970s -when I grew up. Brings back memories of my youth and of the friendship I had when I was young.
Mr. Whitt
Great book of poetry/verse that is all about survival through ALL of your obstacles in life while literally surviving in the Arizona desert.
