West Fest 2024
Thank you to everyone who came out to West Fest! It was great to see all our Vipers there!
Trunk or Treat
The West Community Trunk or Treat event is coming up on October 28th from 5:30-7:30 at West Forsyth High School. If you are able to donate a bag of individually wrapped candy for the event, please drop off donations in the front office by October 25th.

7th Grade Genre Personality Activity
7th grade reading classes took a Genre Personality Quiz to become more familiar with the types of books they would likely enjoy. After taking the quiz, our future bookworms visited the media center to go over the different personality types and browse hundreds of books that align with each personality profile. Students recorded a list of books that piqued their interest and later learned how to create a Favorites list in Destiny so that they may come back to these books throughout the year.

Rescheduled:Fall Festival
Join us for the annual Fall Festival on 10/11 from 4:30-7.
Students are welcome to stay after school for it! This is a free event with inflatables, games, a Photo Booth, air brush tattoos, and a DJ. There will also be food trucks selling food but all activities are free!
Families are invited and encouraged to join!

Mr. Piper
"Eruption," co-written by Michael Crichton and finished by James Patterson, is a fast moving novel that combines Crichton's signature scientific expertise with Patterson's unique storytelling. What was particularly fascinating to me at first was that, not only do I teach earth science, I visit volcanoes as a hobby...and this book delves into the catastrophic power of volcanoes head on. Further, this novel is an even more compelling read knowing the unusual circumstance of its creation as the great Michael Crichton passed away in the middle of writing it and with another big name, James Patterson, completing the story based on Crichton's notes! This collaboration, I feel, has resulted in a suspenseful and scientifically-based narrative that would captivate anyone interested in natural disasters or thrillers.

I just started it, but I am listening to the audio book and Tom Hanks is the reader. I am instantly drawn into the story because of his reading.
