The strategy can encourage a growth mindset because students are encouraged to understand that different people learn at different rates and that success is measured as growth from starting point.
Get students to go home and ask their parents when they first learned to walk and talk.
Get students to stick their ages on the board with their name on it.
Ask students what they notice.
Have a discussion about the fact that although it took different times, each student learned how to walk and talk.
