Staying on pace in all courses is essential to a successful school year!
Staying on pace means submitting all work during (or before) the week it is due. Getting behind and having to catch up can be overwhelming and so it is important to follow the pace calendars weekly.
Temporary Zeros: Throughout the semester, teachers will assign temporary zero grades for work that is past due. These zeros are placeholders that will stay in the gradebook until the missing work has been submitted and graded. If a student needs an assignment unlocked, they will contact their teacher.
Our FVHS team includes Resource Teachers who provide extra support to students who have gotten behind pace. Please note that not working at an appropriate pace and/or not communicating with your teachers could result in truancy proceedings.
Pace and Accelerated Course Work
Students enrolled in honors courses are committing to excellence in not only the quality of work, but staying on pace. After the first honors assignments are submitted, teachers will conduct an academic review. Should the student not be meeting grade/pace expectations, they will be removed from honors and placed in the standard course.
AP and AICE courses where students are able to switch out of the course into another course approved by their school counselor. AP and AICE instructors will also monitor progress, pace, Live Lesson attendance, and communication to determine if the course/program is the appropriate fit. Instructors will recommend removal if a student does not display these characteristics of success.
