Florida Virtual High School utilizes a Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) framework which includes the Response to Intervention (RTI) and an active Problem-Solving process. Our school is committed to providing high quality instruction and interventions aligned to individual student needs using evidence-based practices.
We do this, in part, through screening assessments (such as Achieve 3000, IXL, and iReady) to identify students that may need additional support. Additionally, multiple tiers of supports consisting of increasing levels of intensity provide additional support when indicated by data points. You can read more about MTSS at Florida Virtual School in this brochure.
Initial testing will be in August when you take your initial diagnostic. You will receive more information about specific dates from your pace chart or your ELA and math instructor. Here are the groups who will complete this testing:
All 9th and 10th grade students in Algebra or Geometry should complete the IXL Diagnostic Level Up Math assessment. FAST ELA PM assessments and Achieve 3000 Lexile level will be used for reading proficiency.
11th and 12th grade students who have not yet met graduation testing requirements for Math and/or Reading will complete the required retakes and that data can be used to determine additional support needs.
Please be on the lookout for communication regarding additional supports that may be assigned for those that need it in the area of math or reading.
Note: Students should complete initial diagnostic assessments on their own, without assistance. Diagnostic assessments are one piece of data used to help identify where additional support may be needed, and so accurate data is important.
