To mark your attendance and meet FLVS"s weekly learning expectation, you will need to submit a minimum of 1 assessment every week, although aiming for 2-3 is expected to ensure you complete prior to the May exam.
Research & Writing - you will be spending upwards to 8 hours a week reading, taking notes, reviewing, and completing assignments. Expect each assignment to take 1-2 hours.
Credible Sources - Although you should be able to answer and complete all assessments with the sources provided within the this site, we recommend that you use scholarly sites such as Khan Academy.
Work in Order - to get the most out of the reading and for ease of understanding the content, you will want to work in order, completing all DBAs and exams before continuing onto the next gallery.
To give you the best potential of passing the May exam, you will want to have Segment 1 completed by December or earlier and Segment 2, by early April, leaving you with several weeks to study and prepare for the exam.
GRADING AND WEEKLY ASSESSMENT EXPECTATIONS
RESUBMITTING WORK
You may resubmit all assignments up to 3 times. Please check the grading feedback often as your teacher will provide specifics on areas for improvement.
You may only take the exams 1 time
DISCUSSION BASED ASSESSMENTS (DBA)
A DBA is a benchmark check where the student will arrange to discuss content topics with their teacher via phone call or zoom.
During a DBA, the student should be expected to answer 3 questions regarding the gallery topics or lead a discussion in sharing key ideas that they have been learning about the culture, historical period, or specific artworks.
A DBA typically lasts between 15 - 20 minutes.
Prior to the DBA, the student will need to complete a DBA review worksheet and submit it before scheduling the DBA with the teacher. The student may use the DBA review worksheet or any other notes during the meeting.
Students will complete 3 DBAs with teacher in each Segment.
