Vanessa Otero

LAQV-NOVA School for Sciences and Technology

Vanessa Otero is an interdisciplinary researcher working at the intersection of conservation science and technical art history, focusing on the study of artists’ materials and their preservation in cultural heritage. She is an Assistant Researcher at the LAQV-REQUIMTE R&D unit and a collaborative member of the VICARTE R&D unit. 

She leads the research collaboration between the Department of Conservation and Restoration of the NOVA School of Science and Technology (DCR NOVA FCT) and the international company Winsor & Newton COLART Ltd. Moreover, she is co-responsible for the DCR's analytical infrastructure and coordinates the authentication services of artworks by the Portuguese painter Amadeo de Souza-Cardoso (1887-1918).
