FCPS is committed to supporting all learners in in-person and virtual learning environments. As part of this commitment, our staff are required to develop and maintain essential technological competencies to maximize connectivity and opportunities for our students and parents.
Systemic Expectations- All PK-12 FCPS teachers are required to develop/maintain proficiency with Schoology, Google Meet and Screencasting. Please use the videos/documents below to review and/or learn new skills to meet the essential competencies provided on the left-hand side of this document for each tool listed.
The Approved Digital Tool below contains all of the digital tools that have been approved by FCPS for student use. No other digital tools that require a student login may be used with students. Digital tools that do not require a student login do not need to be approved, and can be used with students based on the teacher's judgement of the curricular and educational benefits the digital tool will provide, however students should not enter any personal information during the use of these digital tools.

IMPORTANT: Be sure to use all digital tools responsibly. Follow the Teacher Requirements and Student Sign-in Process detailed for each digital tool in the Approved Digital Tools list. No student information should be entered into any digital tools beyond what is minimally necessary.

Maintain a list of the digital tools used in each class in Schoology. Include a link to the privacy policy for each tool for parents to access. Digital tool lists may be available by content and/or grade level via District Resources in Schoology.
Inform parents of their right to opt-out of their child's use of any of the non-Premium digital tools (see Level column of Approved Digital Tools list)
At the end of each course you teach, delete all student data, accounts, and courses you created in the non-Premium digital tools to the greatest extent possible. Student data related to your courses should not exist in these platforms after your course ends.
