The Student Support Team (SST) is a multi-disciplinary problem-solving team that identifies, plans, monitors, and evaluates tier 3 interventions for students who are struggling academically, behaviorally, emotionally, or socially. SST ensures that students receive targeted supports before considering more intensive services such as special education or 504.**

What SST is NOT:

𝑿 Not the IEP screening team or special education eligibility team.

𝑿 Does not determine special education services.

What SST can do:

✓ Provide additional Tier 1 supports to the classroom teacher

✓ May refer students to the IEP screening team if needed.

✓ Monitor students in Tier 3 who may continue to need intensive support year to year.

Not all students in the SST process will require a special education referral.
