FCPS constructs a comprehensive local assessment framework to ensure that student progress is monitored and student performance data are available to a variety of stakeholders, including but not limited to teachers, administrators, Board of Education, Racial Equity Committee, and central leaders. These data are used to inform systemic planning. Local assessments provide timely data in order to inform and improve instruction. Assessments are designed to provide meaningful information to system leaders, teachers, parents and students regarding the academic performance of students. Educators should be able to use assessment results to identify and close gaps in achievement, to ensure equity in instruction, and to inform strategies to increase performance across all student groups.Â
