Careers: Exploration, Readiness and Advancement

The Goal of this unit is to develop an awareness of attitudes and skills  required to become a successful employee.

Standards:

CT.ACDP.02.01 Review personal interests, values, aptitudes and cultural attitudes in the career  decision-making and planning process. 

CT.ACDP.02.02 Analyze and explore the occupations in the Maryland 10 career clusters. 

CT.ACDP.02.03 Evaluate and update personal career options using results from the career  inventories. 

CT.ACDP.02.04 Use and define relevant vocabulary associated with the job-seeking process. 

CT.ACDP.02.05 Recognize and evaluate sources of information about employment opportunities. 

CT.ACDP.02.06 Utilize technology for career/job searches. 

CT.ACDP.02.07 Prepare and complete updated employment documents including cover letter,  resume, application, on-line application, and thank you letter. 

CT.ACDP.02.08 Review, update, and utilize academic/career portfolio. 

CT.ACDP.02.09 Demonstrate knowledge of the interview process by examining applicant strengths  and weaknesses, interview etiquette, and illegal questions. 

CT.ACDP.02.10 Critique answers to commonly asked interview questions.
