Noah McLellan is an artist whose work is fearless and bold. He runs with ideas and takes them to the umpteenth level with experimentation, imagery, and medium. His work is daring and uninhibited, intuitive, playful, and without judgment. Noah’s talent and vision earned him a full ride to Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA) in the fall.
Anya Hartman is an incredibly talented artist who brings images to life with incredible vivid colors. Her love for landscapes gives her the opportunity to use a saturated pallet to create an atmosphere and mood that is inviting and dreamlike. She attacks her work with such voracity which is translated onto her work.

Richard came into my Drawing 1 class in his senior year. Early on he demonstrated a drive to do well. His work ethic combined with his love for art has fostered an exceptionally fast growth in his artwork. Richard asked me if I thought his skill-level indicated that he should pursue art in college. It isn't only his skill level, but his drive in pursuit that proved to me that he should certainly continue his development.

I have seen Susannah's love for the graphic arts grow over the last four years. It makes me both happy and sad to see her leave Lafayette High School. Her talents in the graphic arts have exceeded my expectations and I know her journey has just begun. I can't wait to see what achievements she will make in her future.

Mary has shown an amazing understanding of the medium while also interjecting her own personal touch. She not only creates good imagery herself, but shares her knowledge with her colleagues. While our time was cut short during our last semester, I have no doubt that Mary will continue to capture more profound images along her walk of life.

Emma Russell always loves a challenge and that always seems to come from the next material with which she gets to explore. I have had the privilege of teaching Emma for several years and during that time, she has developed into a wonderful young adult that has honed her art making abilities in truly exciting ways. She always meets each challenge head-on, researching and developing her ideas so that if a problem arises, she is ready to problem solve and create an amazing solution. Emma, by far, is ready for the next step in life and I know she will truly excel at whatever she may face.
Ansley Cahill’s work is meticulous and intelligent. The stories told in her work are reminiscent of historic pieces like Trajan’s Column or the Bayeaux Tapestry. This gives the viewer’s eyes someplace to travel and explore. Her understanding and grasp of the medium is fearless and intuitive which is seen in her work.

Taylor Lenox is the perfect example of someone who triumphs over adversity in clay. She is fearless with her ideas, pushes through the adversities, and still creates beautiful work. Taylor’s work is both strong and delicate with a touch of playfulness.

Morgan is one of the most remarkable students that I have ever taught. She is positive, upbeat, caring, and affable. From the minute I met her, I knew there was something singular about her. Watching her grow and mature over the last two years has been amazing. I am always impressed by her insightful observations. It humbles me that she would consider me a role-model and possible reason for becoming a teacher. She will, in turn, become an extraordinary role model for countless individuals lucky enough to experience her sound advice and optimistic outlook on life. The future holds many bright and amazing things for Morgan.

One of the strongest sculptors I have ever had the privilege of teaching. Her ability to conceptualize 3D work is unparalleled and she welcomes the challenge each new material presents to her, always with a smile. Her skill and intellect resemble that of someone much older and accustomed to making art which is why every project she turned in was always remarkable and well above that of an average sculpture student. It is truly exciting to see what the future holds for Ansley.

Alex is an outstanding student. She is intelligent, insightful, well spoken, and creative. Impressively, she has the special ability to apply all those skills to create beautiful paintings. After only one semester of Painting 1, Alex switched to a Painting Independent Study to meet her schedule needs and to provide her with more of a challenge. I have enjoyed working with Alex and look forward to the great things she will accomplish.
