Who are PACs?

A Peer Academic Coach (PAC) is available to any student at F&M. We believe that academics and wellness are mutually supportive, so we work closely with you to support your development and maintenance of personalized academic & wellness strategies. PACs support time management, procrastination, stress management, study strategies, motivation, and so much more.

Is a PAC the right support for me?

Definitely. PACs mostly focus on executive function processes- super important mental processes that serve to regulate our emotions, work habits, and focus. The tricky thing about executive function processes is that they aren’t totally developed until around age 25. Whammy #1 for most college students! Whammy #2 for most college students is that they are really impacted by stress & fatigue.

So, if you are stressed, not sleeping well, or feeling like you’re not at your best, a PAC can help. If you’ve missed some classes or are getting behind in work a PAC is a great support. If you’re struggling to manage your time, procrastinating more than you’d like, or losing motivation and focus, a PAC can help. If you aren’t sure how to study for certain classes, schedule with a PAC in that major and get some expert study tips. In general, PACs are a great support to help you be at your best in college.

What should I expect in a PAC meeting?

A PAC will spend some time getting to know you. They will ask you about classes, your schedule, your activities and workload. They will talk to you about your work habits and goals for the semester. They will help you build out a semester planner and schedule. From there, you and your PAC decide on your goals together and when to meet next.

How do I schedule with a PAC?

It's easy. Go here to see who the PACs are this semester. Click on the white box below their bio to get to their appointment calendar.  The appointment will be automatically added to your Google calendar and you'll soon get an email directly from the PAC with details about your meeting.
