What is DipCares?

DipCares is a team comprised of F&M staff members committed to supporting students through challenging times. DipCares is here to make sure students are aware of resources, that faculty and staff know how to help students who are experiencing distress, and that no student feels they are alone. Any member of the F&M community can refer a student to DipCares if they think a student could benefit from some extra support and/or resources. You can find the referral form, as well as additional resources and information, on our DipCares website

Is DipCares the right support for me?

If you are struggling, or know someone who might be, DipCares is a great place to begin. Support is available, and you are not alone.

What should I expect if I am referred to DipCares?

Students can be referred by any member of the F&M community, including faculty,  HAs, fellow students, parents, House Deans, coaches, and other professional staff.  Students can also refer themselves to DipCares. When a referral is received, the student named in the referral will receive an invitation to meet with Sam Thiry, the Director of Care Coordination, or another member of the DipCares team. During your meeting with Sam, you will work together to assess your needs and develop a plan to connect with relevant resources. You can expect the tone of these meetings to be warm, supportive, and nonjudgmental. You may have follow-up check-ins with Sam, or other members of the team, as needed.

How do I schedule with the Director of Care Coordination?

Students can email Sam at sthiry@fandm.edu or call 717-358-4506 to schedule an appointment.
