Device:  Climbing assay

Objective: The climbing assay is used to measure motor function in Drosophila. In this assay, a fly is placed in a graduated cylinder (Fig. A). The fly is then tapped to the bottom of the cylinder, and the height it climbs is measured. The height climbed by the flies is recorded after a certain time, or the number of flies that exceed a specific height is counted.
