Device: Y-maze
Objective: The Y-maze is used to measure the spatial working memory of zebrafish. A high-speed camera tracks the movement of zebrafish in six different Y-mazes simultaneously (Fig. A and B). The data is analyzed using the software idtrucker.ai, and memory capacity is calculated (Fig. C).
Below is a detailed explanation of memory calculation:
The fish's arm entry pattern is tracked when placed in a Y-shaped tank and allowed to swim freely.
The alternation behavior, which is the behavior of returning to the original arm, is calculated. A higher alternation rate indicates a higher spatial memory capacity.
