Pupil Voice Group
Our Voice Matters
We are a group of pupils from across the school who work together to make sure that your voice and opinions are heard. We meet once a month in separate junior (S1-3) and senior (S4-6) groups and discuss lots of topics that impact pupils in the school. If you would like us to discuss anything on your behalf, just let us know by scanning the QR code on the poster that is in every classroom.
We also love to be involved in school events and initiatives. Recently we have:
· Hosted events at the Community and Family Fun Day
· Welcomed visitors to talk to us about reusable and sustainable period products
· Put together Welcome Packs for new S1 pupils
· Taken part in consultation events with Falkirk Council and Reddingmuirhead and Wallacestone Community Council
If you think the Pupil Voice Group is something you would like to be involved in, we’d love to have you: everyone is welcome! Watch out for us in assemblies and on your Year Group Teams, where we will share information about how you can join.
If you are new to Braes, you probably have lots of questions about how things work. Here is a list of some frequently asked questions that will help you settle in:
Q: Where can I find:
The main office/reception?
On the ground floor at the school’s main entrance.
The medical room?
On the ground floor, in the corridor to the right after the junior toilets.
The toilets?
The S1-3 toilets are on the ground floor, just before the assembly hall/Hub area.
S4-6 toilets are on the first floor.
My Pastoral teacher?
If you need to speak to your Pastoral teacher outside of PSE time, you can often find them in the Pastoral base: on the ground floor in the corridor between the reception and the swimming pool area.
The library?
The library is on the first floor opposite Home Economics.
Q: What should I do if I don’t feel well?
A: Tell your teacher, who will give you a note to take to the medical room.
Q: I’m not sure how to get where I need to go: what should I do?
A: Ask for help! Staff and pupils will be happy to help you get to where you need to be.
Q: Where can I go at break and lunch time?
A: Break - stay in school grounds. You can go outside to one of our seating areas or you can use the Hub to eat and relax with friends. Seniors have their own social space with music provided by Braes Beat Radio!
Lunch - You can go outside. Just sure to be back in class for 1.10pm!
Q: Which toilets should we use?
A: There are S1-3 toilet facilities on the ground floor outside the Hub and S4-6 facilities can be found on the first floor (past the library). There are also some accessible toilets around the school – make sure to ask for directions if you need them!
Q: How do I sign up for extra-curricular clubs?
A: Once you have the information about all our amazing extra-curricular clubs go and see the teacher in charge. They will be delighted to see you!
