Valentine's Day:
Here is some information regarding Valentine's for this year…
We are celebrating Valentine's Day as a class on February 14th, in the afternoon. We will play some games (Kahoot and Bingo) as well as pass out valentines and decorate our boxes.
Students should bring in a box to decorate by 2/13/23 (something like a tissue or shoe box will work best).
Students, if they would like, should bring in a Valentine for each student. The list is included on the sign up sheet link below.
So, in year’s past the students have always wanted to do an ice-cream party for Valentines. I will bring the ice-cream but if you would like to bring in a topping, please put your name down next to one of the things, in the link, below. These are the kid’s ideas, if we don’t get much, that’s okay!

PBL:
This week we will be investigating Newton's 3rd Law of Motion which states: "For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction."
We will attempt to use elastic energy and a load source in order to make our "Newton Cars" GO!
Students can bring in a small (but heavy) load that will counteract the action of the car and send it forward. Some examples of loads that worked REALLY well are: an old photo film container or pill bottle filled with coins, or a small but heavy rock. The load should fit between a 2-3 x 3 inch area, and should be heavy enough to give the car a push, but not heavy enough to weigh down the back of the car. BRING THIS IN BY WEDNESDAY!
The load will be placed in an area held by a number of rubber bands. A string will be holding the rubber bands thus containing the elastic energy. When the string is broken, the load should accelerate backwards and cause the car to fly forward.
