Reading:
Students will begin their new book club books this week. They should bring this home EVERY DAY. They will need to read for 30 minutes each night. Their book club work is to be done AT HOME.
Day 1:Students are expected to have their book club pages read, complete their summarizing key points, questions while reading, and vocabulary.
Day 2: Students should complete a paragraph summary and state the main idea, and give evidence from the book for that why they think that is the main idea. They also need a colored drawing that depicts that main idea.
Day 3: Students will fill in the connections they had with the book:
-Book to Book
-Book to Self
-Book to World
They should also give a prediction with evidence from the book.
In addition to this, students will be expected to have a chapter book, at their level, at school to read during reading time. They will fill out a daily reading log which includes:
-the book they read
-the pages they read
-a short 1-2 sentence summary of what they read
If the real feel temperature is below 60 degrees students must wear a coat or jacket outdoors.
We have library on Monday! Students are only able to check out a new book if they returned their other one. Books should be returned by Friday so they can be checked back in
Students should be bringing their BINDER home every day. In that binder is their student planner/book club reading notebook, PBL notebook, and their science vocabulary book. It needs to also be brought back to school each day.
A good habit is to have that binder in their backpack when they're not using it. When they are done with their home learning, it should go right back into their backpack.
