901 Assignment: WEB 2.0 Lesson

The lesson below shows a broad variety of Web 2.0 tools. This lesson will take students on a journey through a variety of habitats and ecosystems with an emphasis on recognizing animal adaptations and the role that plays within that ecosystem. Again, I chose Science because I really feel so inspired and creative to push outside of the box where I might feel more restricted with my Math curriculum. The use of Skype and StoryBird are new to me (and my class) but felt that they were both very important tools to use for this lesson. My students will have the opportunity to "see" a real ecosystem in action and observe the interactions of the organisms within it. I chose StoryBird as opposed to a handwritten creation so those that aren't as "crafty" might feel that they've got a more equal ability to present a well-crafted and visually stunning piece of work.

I really love this assignment (again) because these modules continue to push me to pursue further than I would have imagined going on my own. The problem I find, and apparently my cohort members as well, is that there really are too many choices and I get so excited and easily distracted from one to the next the I find myself overwhelmed and shut down. I have to practice focusing on 1 thing that I think I'd like to try; work with it for a while and then add something else new.

I can't wait to push this assignment out to my kiddos and see their reactions and engagement as they participate in exciting, and meaningful learning experiences.
