As we began CITEC-901H , this week's Module 1 focused on: Educational Philosophies and Innovative Instructional Models. This was, as the instructor put it, "like drinking through a fire-hose". Lots of information to take in; some old, some new. I enjoying reviewing material that, when I was taking my Credential courses; and, before I was actually teaching seemed surreal and disconnected, now had substance and relevance to me. I found myself reflecting on my own teaching practices and it was reassuring that even though I hadn't given specifics of those theories and pedagogies much thought (recently), that somehow the spirit of their meaning, is woven throughout. I do recognize, however, areas that greater and more meaningful student learning might be achieved if I make adjustments and shifts toward a more integrated or blended learning environment.
For this assignment (which is a lesson that will become part of my Final Project), I created a lesson that incorporated components from a variety of philosophies to engage as many student learning styles as possible. However, there is much emphasis on Multiple Intelligences in a Blended Instructional model.
