The University of California (UC) and the California State University (CSU) require the college preparatory pattern of subjects referred to as "A-G" courses for admission.
"A" History and Social Science - 2 years including one year of world or European history, cultures and geography and one year of U.S. history (or one semester of U.S. History and one semester of American government)
"B" English - 4 years of college preparatory English composition and literature
"C" Mathematics - 3 years (4 years recommended) including Integrated Math I, Integrated Math II, and Integrated Math III or higher
"D" Laboratory Science - 2 years (3 years recommended) with lab component including one year biological science and one year physical science
"E" World Language - 2 years (3 years recommended) of the same language
"F" Visual and Performing Arts - 1 yearlong course of visual and performing arts chosen from the following disiplines: dance, music, theater, or visual arts
"G" College Preparatory Elective - 1 year of any college preparatory subject specific to the elective (G) subject area or couses beyond the minimum requirements of the A-F subjects
Courses must be passed with a marking grade of "C" or higher to meet eligibility requirements
Exam Requirement: CSU - SAT or ACT*
GPA Requirement: UC - 3.0 or higher; CSU - 2.0 or higher*
*Due to COVID 19 Pandemic, CSU system is suspending the SAT/ACT requirement for Fall 2021 applicants. Applicants will need to have a minimum GPA of 2.5. Applicants with GPAs between 2.0-2.49 are subject to additional requirements.
