IHS Counseling will be hosting middle school presentations for incoming 9th grade students and parents. Students who live in the Independence High School attendance area or who would like to attend IHS are encouraged to attend the presentation to receive information about the school, programs, courses and more.

Scheduling Process
Hand copies of the scheduling form will be available to students the day of their IHS presentation
Only one submission per student
Students and parents may contact their intended school counselor to schedule an appointment to discuss options
Be sure to review selections carefully
IHS will do our best to enroll students in their top choices
Elective choices are not guaranteed
IHS will do our best to send a receipt of intended courses for the 2026-27 school year to students and parents
At that time, students may request to change their intended courses, which will be reviewed by each student’s school counselor

Every student is scheduled for six (6) classes
Each 9th grade student will be placed in English, Biology, Geometry and PE 1
The two remaining elective courses are student choice
IHS Counseling recommends one of the courses be a World Language
Students will be asked to select more courses than they are allowed to take
If students' first and second choices are not available, IHS will place them in their alternate choices
Students will select either an early start (Periods 1-6) or late start (Period 2-7)
