1. Conduct annual evaluation of Tier 1 data (see Feature 1.13 and Feature 1.14)
2. Create an action plan for the following school year based upon annual evaluation
3. Share annual evaluatoin and data analysis with stakeholders
Annually collecting and evaluating data are a part of Feature 1.13 and Feature 1.14. Feature 1.15 analyzes this data over time by comparing the latest annual data with the same data from previous years.
By comparing fidelity data (Feature 1.14) school's are able to track implementation progress. This can be very important to schools, especially those that take multiple years to fully implement PBIS, as it shows growth over time and progress towards the goals on the action plan. These reports are usually kept internally and used by the PBIS Leadership team and shared with staff to show the progress of implementation.
Comparing other student data (Feature 1.13), school's are able to track the impact that PBIS has on student behavior and academic outcomes. One of the most powerful reports that can be generated annually in SWIS is the Triangle (or Pyramid) Data. Triangle Data shows the proportion of students with 0-1, 2-5, or 6+ referrals. Students with 0-1 referrals responded to Tier 1 interventions. Students with 2-5 referrals may need Tier 2 interventions and students with 6+ may need Tier 3 interventions. This can also be used to monitor progress as 80% of students should respond to Tier 1, with 15% needing Tier 2 and 5% needing Tier 3 interventions if PBIS is implemented with fidelity. Often this is the data is shared with external shareholders to show progress towards these measures.
SWIS will generate many of the annual evaluations for student behavior automatically as wells as include national averages in some areas to assist schools in action planning and progress monitoring. SWIS Assessment helps schools track fidelity data by collecting fidelity online and generating reports immediately available as soon as a survey is submitted.
