Adults with hearing differences who utilize sign language as their communication mode require licensed sign language interpreters for events, meetings, appointments etc. Students with hearing differences also require a licensed interpreter for any event, meeting, appointment, etc. that are not sponsored by the school.
Identify yourself and your agency.
Ask if the interpreter is available to interpret at the specific time that you need someone. Do not disclose any confidential information until the interpreter has stated that they are available.
If the interpreter is available for that date and time, give the interpreter the confidential information regarding location, deaf client's name, type of setting, etc.
Modified List of Certified Interpreters: this list is a compilation of the NCDHH list from licensure years 2019-2021 that contained contact information, if provided, by the interpreters. The 2019-2021 list was updated to reflect individuals that still have licensure for the 2021-2023 years.
