About the DesigneR and PresenteR

chad laroche

Chad's teaching career began in 2011 as a U.S. Peace Corps volunteer. He taught for two years at a secondary school in St. Vincent and the Grenadines where he focused on building reading skills and creating extracurricular activities. Two years later, a blossoming love for teaching and living in new cultures brought him to South Korea where he taught English for two years in elementary schools. In Korea, Chad fused his passion for music, drumming and video creation with language teaching.  Soon after he obtained his Master of Arts in TESOL at the School for International Training in Brattleboro, Vermont in 2016. He has since been teaching English and training teachers in Costa Rica, the Dominican Republic, South Africa, and most recently in Mozambique as an English Language Fellow.

Contributing presenters

JoNNATHAN ELIZONDO

Jonnathan Elizondo is an experienced EFL professional who devotes his time and energy seeking ways to enhance his students´ learning processes. He is especially interested in exploring the impact of technology in the English classroom and specifically in using ICTs to improve students’ listening and speaking skills.  Currently, this is the topic of his dissertation to obtain a PhD in Education from Universidad Internacional Iberoamericana (UNINI) in Mexico. 

Mr. Elizondo holds an MA in Teaching English as a Foreign Language and a BA in Primary Education with emphasis in English teaching – both degrees from the University of Costa Rica. Jonnathan has experience teaching English to different age groups.  At present he works the Ministry of Public Education, at UNED in the English Teaching major, at CEDES Don Bosco Language Academy, and as an international speaking and writing examiner for Cambridge Assessment English. 

A thought he strongly identifies with is Albert Einstein’s "I never teach my pupils. I only provide the conditions in which they can learn.”  

Arelis Oconitrillo Palma

Arelis is a Costa Rican English teacher. She has a bachelor's degree in English teaching, a degree in English teaching, and a master's in Educational Administration. She has five years of experience in Hewlett Packard as a Quality Analyst and nine years of experience teaching English. She is currently working as a conversational English teacher at Santa Gerturdis High School in Grecia, Alajuela.

María de los ángeles alfaro rojas

María is a Costa Rican English teacher. She has a bachelor's degree in Primary Education, a degree in Primary Education, a Bachelor's degree in English Teaching, a degree in English Teaching, a master's in Educational Administration, and a master's in Teaching. She has four years of experience in Primary Education and eight years of experience in English teaching. She is currently working as a conversational English teacher in Santa Gertrudis High School in Grecia, Alajuela. 

María José Herrera

María is a Costa Rican English teacher who has been working at Tuetal Norte High School for 11 years. She has a bachelor's degree in Teaching English as a Second Language, and is currently finishing her master's degree.
