SCIENCE WITH M&Ms

What will happen if we put different coloured M&Ms on a plate of water?

When we put one colour of M&M on the plate, the water is dyed the color of the candy. However when we mix the colours, though the colours still leave the candy and stain the water, - surprise! They do not mix with one another.

Why does this phenomenon happen?

Both the color and the sugar of the candy dissolve in water. The sugar causes the density of the liquid to increase and forms barriers between the colours.

After a while, of course, the colors will mix.
