Introduction

Me, Ariana Tsarikidis, and my team have interviewed kids around HKMS asking them questions about the school. We have interviewed 4 sixth graders Gabriela Cerrito, Gabriela Parker, and Amara Sanchez. 2 seventh graders Arjun Phatak and  Elizabeth Kimball. 3 eighth graders Oscar Heyfron, Avery Vanderburg, and Lucia Ferrari. We have gathered their opinions on HKMS and are ready to share them with you! Read the following and see what your fellow students think about your school!

Question #1: What is something you love about HKMS?

Gabriela Cerrito: It’s a small school.

Liam Sergi: We have more freedom and we get to walk around more.

Gabriella Parker: I like how you have a lot of freedom and the teachers aren't telling you what to do all day long.

Amara Sanchez: I love that you can tell what your problems are and they can help you.

Arjun Phatak: It's  very challenging, it challenges you.

Elizabeth Kimball:  I really like the  teachers, the community, and the after school clubs.

Lucia Ferrari: Love how diverse the school is and how welcoming the staff is because I know when I have a problem I am very comfortable talking to an adult in the building.

Oscar Heyfron : I love the sense of community it gives.

Avery Vanderburg: I love how it's a really small school and everyone knows each other.

Question #2: What is something that surprised you the first time you walked to HKMS?

Gabriela Cerrito: I like how welcoming everyone is.

Liam Sergi:  How nice the teachers were.

Gabriella Parker: I was surprised about all the freedom you got because in SSES you were being told everything to do. And all the teachers are really nice.

Amara Sanchez: So small and fits so many people.

Arjun Phatak: how independent they let you be

Elizabeth Kimball :  It was the pandemic so all the dividers were up in the cafeteria and all the halls were empty. It was kind of depressing.

Lucia Ferrari: How lenient teachers were about your work.

Oscar Heyfron : The hallways are like a road.

Avery Vanderburg: We had more freedom here than in elementary school.

Question #3: What is your favorite club or a club you would like to create?

Gabriela Cerrito: My favorite club is the art club.

Liam Sergi: A good club idea  is flag football.

Gabriella Parker: Peer leadership club.

Arjun Phatak: Newspaper club.

Elizabeth Kimball:  I don't really know. It's a really good school all together and I love all the spirit days.

Amara Sanchez: I like Newspaper club and I want to create a club were you can make your own jewelry (Jewelry club)

Lucia Ferrari: The play.

Oscar Heyfron : Soccer club.

Avery Vanderburg: An after school Basketball club.

Question #4: What do you want to change about HKMS?

Gabriela Cerrito: Nothing.

Liam Sergi: Expand due dates.

Gabriella Parker: Nothing.

Amara Sanchez:  Nothing

Arjun Phatak:  Make it more diverse.

Lucia Ferrari:  I would change the way that the hallways are monitored.

Oscar Heyfron : Change the food.

Avery Vanderburg: Add more recess time.

13 The Musical Cast Press Conference Q&A

Q: What inspired you to audition?

A:

Lucia: I did the play last year and I had a lot of fun

Grey: I did the play last year and I like to be on stage. The community was really fun

Kate: I like to do theater and I go to a camp

I really enjoy to sing and act with friends

Georgia: My friends were doing it.

Nate: Theater is something I want to do.

Sammy: I was in Annie last year and I like doing shows

Elizabeth: I have done theater before and it seemed like a cool show

Annabel: I was curious about what the show was about and I had done the show last year.

Sam: Saira motivated me to do it

T.T.: I did it because I was free on those days

Oscar: I did this to boost my high school application

Cecelia: I did the play because last year I did Annie and I did not think I would like theater but I did. I got the lead.

Avery: I did it because I was in Annie last year and it was really fun.

Jillian: I wanted to do it last year and I didn’t.

Q: How is the character you played different or similar to your personality?

A:

Lucia - Cassie: She is bubbly and I am bubbly.

Grey - Skater Punk & Geek: I am most close to the skater bunk because of how I dress. I do have a geek  personality. Similar in some way but not really.

Kate - Cheerleader: I used to cheer.

Malissa - Ensemble and Geek: I am somewhat similar to the geek because I am knowledgeable in a few topics. Outside of that, I came out with a random personality.

Georgia - Cheerleader: I am really energetic and I am not that flexible so it is similar and different.

Sammy - Malcolm: I do not relate to my character at all because I am not a jerk. I do not play football.

Elizabeth - Eddie: I am not a boy and do not play football. I am friends with Sammy though.

Nate - Archie -  I am snooty, intelligent, and like to share it even though he is not. I can walk though

Annabel - Kendra: She was bubbly and optimistic. She confuses happiness in a relationship. She mistook laughing at Bretts jokes for something.  We are different because of this.

Jillian - Molly: I do dance and she is social and I am social.

Cecilia - Even: He is male and I am female. He is clueless and I'm not. He can’t figure out body language.

Oscar - Brett: He had a girlfriend longer than I did. I do the same sports. I am smarter than my character. I don’t go to parties.

T.T. - Richie: He likes to sing really high and I don’t. We are very different because I am a girl and he is a boy.  He is silly and quirky like I am.

SHOUT OUT TO STAGE CREW. WE COULD NOT HAVE DONE ANYTHING WITHOUT YOU GUYS.

Q: What was the funniest memory of the play?
A:

Lucia- My funniest memory when I played Kendra when Annabel wasn’t here and I was supposed to hold hands and hug Oscar. I did not want to do that.

Cecilia - On the third night I was super tired so I watched Lyle Lyle Crocodile to make me energized.

Jillian - The movie scene was bad. They skipped lines and music.

Annabel - During rehearsal, it was very fun to fake kick Oscar. Oscar also fell off the stage when this happened.

Sammy - When Georgianna was out so Dr. Baca subbed. He started talking about how hot he was.

Georgia - When we were getting ready, Annabel stood up and the director told Annabel to kick Oscar.

Georgia - It was really fun when we sang an opportunity and then the director would yell and push.

Nate - I forgot my crutches and walked into the scene.
