March 2023

Outdoor learning

March has brought P4a some fun outdoor learning when the weather has been a bit kinder! We've been digging, planting and enjoying nature! We enjoyed spotting lots of signs of spring too and maintaining the Maidenhill Secret Garden.

Learn with us afternoon

Many thanks to all the grown ups who came and enjoyed learning with us! We created symmetrical pancakes, a model digestive system and enjoyed our measuring challenge. A super time was had by all.

World book day

This month we celebrated World Book day. P4a looked fabulous in their sleep wear and cosied up with a hot chocolate to listen to a chapter of our class novel, "The Creakers" by Tom Fletcher. We enjoyed listening to David Walliams on "Authors Live" discuss what it's like being an author.

RME

P4a have been enjoying learning about how Muslims celebrate Ramadan and Eid. We drew Ramadan lanterns, created our own Mendhi patterns and used the blocks to design various aspects of a Mosque. The class loved sharing their own experiences of Eid and Ramadan with the class too!

PE

P4a have been using their dribbling, passing and shooting skills to participate in games of football and basketball. It certainly showed our competitive edge with lots of fun had as well!

Science

In Science, we have been furthering our knowledge of the human body by creating our own model digestive system. We had lots of fun getting messy and we found it fascinating seeing how the body absorbs food...and what happens to the rest! Really gross or absolutely amazing? You decide!

CONSTRUCTION

Another month, another set of contructions! P4a are very proud to show off all that they have imagined and constructed!

Maths

During this block we have enjoyed learning about lots of different aspects of maths! We have looked at rounding large numbers and how we can use this skill to estimate the answer to more difficult calculations, how to divide using the bus stop method and how to use function machines. We have also spent time exploring measurement, looking at what we can measure and how. We have learned how to measure the area of square and rectangles, the length of objects in and around our classroom, and how to measure in millilitres and litres.

Coming up next in p4a...

In science we are going to continue exploring the life cycle of plants and investigate what plants need to grow.

In social studies, we will begin to explore how our daily life compares to the lives of those in the past.

In PE, we will be practising our fitness skills.
