A Game Boy for our assembly.
Thanks to Max's dad for allowing us to show his Game Boy at our assembly.
A beanstalk appeared in our room.
Our model text for Talk for Writing is Jack and the Beanstalk. Look close enough and you might be able to see Jack climbing the beanstalk.
Our story map for the model text.
Felicity - We were writing down our spelling words on the tablets and I wrote some words Mr Murray hadn't taught us. Lara did some words on a tablet as well.
P3 have been taken part in masterclasses. They have had an opportunity to take part in outdoor learning, STEM (science) or KAPLA, healthy eating, craft making and table top games.
Here are some pictures of the STEM (science) masterclass with Mr Murray in which the children were making lava lamps!
Also Mrs Balloch and Mrs Wallace led an outdoor learning class where the children were looking for bugs and making spider catchers.
Felicity - We were making lava lamps. It was really cool watching all the bubbles up and down and ours worked really well. I choose the colour yellow.
Elena - I was doing science with Mr Murray. It was really fun because we made bubbles go up and hit the bottom of the jar.
Looking at bugs in the bug box.
Keir - The KAPLA masterclass was very good. Miss Reynolds has a special camera that pictures and prints it out in black and white for us to take home. We made a hotel out of KAPLA.
Isla - I was at the healthy food making and the first thing we made was a waffle and we added lots of topping to it. The second week we made a mini pizza. I used lots of pineapple on my pizza.
Alex - I built a runway with a statue because my runway was in a circle. I built a massive tower at the start of the runway.
Adam C - We had fun playing snakes and ladders at table top games.
It's been a cold week, but that didn't stop P3 going to the MUGA on Tuesday.
To keep ourselves active and warm, we took part in some fitness circuits.
There was a shuttle run circuit, skipping ropes, speed jumps, hurdles and wall push ups.
All the children did so well to keep going and trying their best right to the end.
Max - We had really good fun doing wall push ups, skipping, shuttle runs and hurdles.
Adam C - We had to run really fast.
Felicity - We had to run around the cones as fast we could and see how many runs we could get.
Isla - We were jumping back and forth over the hurdle.
It was Book Week Scotland this week.
P3 celebrated it with DEAR (Drop Everything and Read) throughout the week. We also visited the Innovation Station in the school to choose a book from the school library.
On Thursday we welcomed our adults into the class to take part in different activities linked to the books we received in our Read Write Count bags.
Thank you to all the adults who helped make this a special afternoon for the children.
Olly - We had fun reading during Book Week Scotland.
Felicity - I was reading a book called the Magic Faraway Tree. I have all the books at my home and was enjoying this one.
John - We had fun reading our books for Book Week Scotland.
The well used class library.
P3 have been taken part in masterclasses. They have had an opportunity to take part in outdoor learning, STEM (science) or KAPLA, healthy eating, craft making and table top games.
Here are some pictures of the STEM (science) masterclass with Mr Murray in which the children were erupting lemons!
Also Mrs Balloch and Mrs Wallace led an outdoor learning class where the children were den building.
P3 continue to develop their possession game skills.
In hockey they have been learning to control the speed and direction of the ball, controlling their body movements and learning to dribble with the ball.
Here they are playing a game of hockey relay showing these skills. Next week, we'll be starting small hockey matches.
P3 were learning about push and pull forces this week. We linked this to our space learning context and looked at space exploration through satellites, robots, telescopes and rockets!
The children investigated how a paper rocket flies when blown with a straw.
How far does it go? Does it fly straight or does it tumble in mid-air? What forces are affecting the rocket?
Then we added fins to try to improve the flight of the rockets.
How far does this rocket go? How does its flight compare with your first finless rocket? Does it go farther? Does it tumble or does it fly straight? Do you think fins help the stability of your rocket?
Lots of fun and great science questions asked!
Max - We were doing test flights for our paper rockets. The first one was just plain, the second one had fins on it then we tested if the plain or finned one worked better.
P3.1 visit Eaglesham Library this morning.
Thanks to June for allowing us to borrow some books.
Thank you to the parent helpers who assisted us to and from the library.
