In P.E, we are beginning to demonstrate eye/hand and eye/foot coordination required for movement skills.
In the pictures, you will see we had the opportunity to pick our own level of challenge. Hitting the target every time? Move the target further away.
Our Room on the Broom Adventure!
We loved reading Room on the Broom so we went outside to make our very own witch’s house! We worked together to build it with blocks, sticks, leaves and anything we could find. Then came the big challenge: bringing our house to life with a special password and passcode! We had so much fun thinking up spells, secret codes and playing out our own witchy stories. ✨
We are starting to recognise coins up to £2, focusing on their shape and colour, with an extra hint when the value is printed on the coin. The tricky part comes when there’s no number on the coin! We played a game called 'Fastest Finger' as part of our Blue Target Task. One player calls out a coin value and the other has to quickly point to the correct coin.
CHALLENGE: Call out a value that can be made by adding two coins and point to both coins needed to reach the total.
This is a fun activity you can also try at home if you have some spare change!
Throw the ping pong ball into a cupcake case! Read the common word inside.
CHALLENGE: Can you think of a sentence that uses the common word?
This is something you can practise at home. It was a popular task amongst the pupils! 🔤
Today in Primary 1, we had a special visit from the dental nurse! She taught us how to keep our teeth healthy, watched us brush our teeth and gave us helpful tips and feedback on how to do it the right way. We learned lots of dos and don'ts to make sure our smiles stay bright and healthy!
This week, we started learning about addition and subtraction! We used materials from around the classroom, like cubes and counters, to help us see and solve the problems. We also practised writing calculations and learned about the symbols "+" for adding and "−" for taking away. It was fun learning how to solve math problems in different ways!

In Primary 1, we had a "Muddy Movers" balance lesson where we explored the outdoors and worked on our balancing skills! We practised walking across logs, stepping stones and other fun obstacles, all while learning how to move carefully and stay steady. It was a great way to improve our coordination and have fun in nature!
See our target below:
When walking a line, keep body tall, tummy muscles pulled in, head up looking forward, arms out to the side.
Our old nursery teacher, Mrs McCracken, visited Primary 1 to introduce us to baby Sophie! We had so much fun telling her all about Primary 1 and we asked lots of important questions about how to take care of a baby.
On Monday, we worked on matching rhyming cards all by ourselves for our red Target Task! This fun activity helped us listen for patterns in words, like how "cat" and "hat" sound the same at the end. By finding words that rhyme, we’re getting better at hearing sounds in words, which will help us become stronger readers and writers!
