Abdul Karim was born in Agra-India,in 1862. His father Sheikh Mohammed Waziruddin was a hospital assistant.
Karim was one of the 2 Indians who arrived to serve Queen Victoria's Golden Jubilee. Some didn't like her having a close friendship with an Indian man.
Abdul helped teach Queen Victoria Hindustani & became her 'munshi.' He taught her about a different culture.
Queen Victoria took a liking to Karim and granted him some land in the surburbs of Agra. Later he was decorated with the order of the indian. Karim's rise within the household caused some controversy.
Abdul Karim was banished from royal circles and then returned to India where he served his death.
Arrival
In 1893, after six months leave in India, Karim returned to England with his wife and mother.
The closer her got to the Queen the more the court tried to pull them apart.
