Legends and Their Even More Legendary Venues:
One band that I always knew growing up was U2. My mom, their biggest fan, played all of their albums and would not stop talking about Bono…kidding. However, when I was visiting Colorado, one place I had to visit was Red Rocks. U2 had a performance there that truly changed what Red Rocks was. Of course it was a massive venue that drew crowds, but it was now a venue that could host ROCK, and still make it sound impeccable. The views are unbeatable and speak for themselves. I took photos and used the Van Dyke Brown process to give them a brown tint. I feel like this look makes you feel like you’re being surrounded by those towering rock structures as well as being immersed in the music. Although it’s a bit of a walk to get there, the acoustics are completely worth it. These pictures are also very special to me because I was able to use one of my favorite photographic processes. I printed my digital photos out onto a piece of clear vinyl paper, and then used the Van Dyke Brown Process to transfer the images on to a sheet of paper. I believe that this process gives these photos a more natural and organic feel that matches the energy of Red Rocks.
