The Importance of Drums:
Whenever I go to a concert or am listening to a song in my car, the first thing I notice is the drums. Especially when you're in a big arena, you can feel the drum beats in your whole body. I think that over time, I’ve realized that drums are what hold a song together sometimes. Whether it's a slight tap on a tom or heavy beat on the kick, it always impacts what the song will sound like. There have been so many amazing drummers, for example Steven Adler from Guns N Roses, Larry Mullen Jr. from U2, and the late Taylor Hawkins from the Foo Fighters. So many new and upcoming drummers look up to the legends because they are incredible. At Ensworth alone, there is so much talent and so much undiscovered talent that will continue to be uncovered. One of my good friends Andy Waller is a part of the Rock Band at Ensworth as well as his own band outside of school named “Fly to the Sun”. At the most recent rock band concert, he spoke about how the death of Taylor Hawkins affected him as a drummer and as a fan. He said he got a lot of his inspiration and talent from Taylor and that he will continue to look up to him.
