Overview of Status of Analysis, Design, Fabrication, Tests, etc.

• Key hardware: frame, electromagnet coils and cores, must be machined and assembled

• C-shape core donut designed

• Design new iron core geometry to accommodate return paths

• Updated Frame designs to accommodate scope change and new geometric constraints of new core geometries

• Have iron cores machined, and assemble 4 transformer inspired solenoids (Joseph)

• Work on controls system GUI for Arduino (Tanner).

• Continue design changes to solenoids and overall design. (John)

  • Reaching out to Professor Fullerton for meeting on magnet design -> We are waiting to test our current prototype to better engage with the Professor on further improvements.

Risks and Areas of Concern

• Welding/fusing strength of iron core return path structure for C-bar inspired design

  • Is welding available?

• Ensuring final system electrical safety

• How wide are the machine tools? Will it be small enough to fit into our design?

• Actual efficiency of C-shaped magnet. Currently, the team is testing the current design and reaching out to Professor Fullerton for additional advice.

  • Waiting on response from Fullerton once Prototype C-magnet is built.
