Overview of Status of Analysis, Design, Fabrication, Tests, etc.
Design:
As per sponsor requests, the designs have been adjusted to allow for electrical pins to connect to the coaxial cables in an orthogonal orientation with respect to the chip surface.
Fabrication:
A search is underway to find a company to fabricate the design with minimal lead time.
Accomplishments from Previous Week
Adjustment of design to suit new sponsor requirements.
The decision was made not to use OASIS Manufacturing to produce the design, as the lead time was too long.
Several designs were drawn up and CAD'd with various electrical trace configurations.
A finalized design has been decided upon.
Dimensions and spacing has been double checked.
Quotes have been requested from five different companies.
Goals for Next Week (list names after each item). Use specific and measurable objectives.
Find a manufacturer to produce the bracket (Wasson)
If a manufacturer is not found with a small enough lead time, changes must be made to the design to allow production within the next 4 weeks.
Electrical: Production of a bracket out of a different material to demonstrate electrical design works.
Thermal: Production of a bracket without electrical traces to demonstrate thermal design works.
Alternative designs.

Sponsor Comments from Last Meeting and Actions Taken to Address these Comments (indicate date of comments and if via email or in person)
The sponsor and a colleague expressed a desire to adjust the design to allow the coaxial cables to interface with our bracket in a different place than originally designed. This was expressed on April 17 at SPAWAR testing facility.
Instructor Comments from Last Meeting and Actions Taken to Address these Comments (indicate date of comments and if via email or in person)
The Instructor expressed concerns with producing the bracket prior to the end of the quarter, given our expected lead time. This was expressed in person on Wednesday, April 18.
This concern prompted the alternative strategies of searching for other companies and designed easier brackets to manufacture.
Comments from Other Students in the Class (indicate date of comments and if via email or in person)
After an in-class group presentation many students left written comments expressing a concern for the length of our expected lead time.
Risks and Areas of Concern
Production: Getting the bracket produced before the end of the 8th week of this quarter.
Sponsor Satisfaction: If a producer is not found with a short enough lead time, severe compromises will need to be made in order to have deliverable at end of class.
