This year, our students at EMS have taken on a remarkable journey through science—exploring, experimenting, and asking big questions from Lower to Upper Secondary.

They’ve tackled exciting topics in physics, biology, and chemistry, engaged in hands-on experiments, and developed critical thinking along the way. Their curiosity, teamwork, and dedication have made this a year to remember.

Lower Secondary (Year 7 - Year 9)

In Lower Secondary, our students laid the foundation for their scientific journey. They explored the fundamental principles of biology, chemistry, and physics through engaging experiments, interactive lessons, and hands-on activities.

Upper Secondary (Year 10 - Year 13)

In Upper Secondary, our students took their scientific understanding to the next level, exploring more complex and advanced topics. They sharpened their critical thinking, embraced research-based learning, and began to appreciate the interconnectedness of scientific disciplines. Whether comparing the structure and function of plant and animal cells or investigating enzyme activity under different conditions, they consistently demonstrated resilience, creativity, and a thirst for knowledge.

Throughout their journey in the Science Department, our students have created lasting experiences that reflect their endless curiosity and commitment to learning. Partnerships with the Ministry of Education, Qatar Foundation, and Weill Cornell Medical University have provided students with opportunities to participate in intensive research programs and enriching activities. These experiences have deepened their passion for scientific inquiry and inspired them to strive toward innovative discoveries.

Biology

Research Competition at Weil Cornell Medicine

Alma and Hiba had a fantastic opportunity to present their research poster at Weill Cornell Medicine-Qatar on Saturday, January 25th, gaining valuable experience in a professional academic setting. Their participation in this event was made even more meaningful with your guidance and support. Thank you, Ms. Hanadi, for dedicating your time and effort to mentor them and for making this experience so enriching and inspiring.

Chemistry

National Chemistry olympiad

The National Chemistry Olympiad in Qatar is a prestigious competition where top students showcase their chemistry knowledge and problem-solving skills. It provides an excellent opportunity for students to challenge themselves, deepen their understanding of chemistry, and represent their school at a national level. A special thanks to Ms. Rekha and Mr. Joseph for their invaluable support and guidance to the students throughout the competition.

Qatar Astronomy Olympiad Workshop/events

The Qatar Astronomy Olympiad engaged students in studying the

Sun, detecting sunspots, raising awareness, and comparing sunspot sizes to Earth.

We were honored to take part in the Qatar Astronomy Olympiad for Schools 2025, where our dedication to scientific excellence and creativity was proudly recognized. Our school had the privilege of winning Best Booth in the Astronomical Exhibit category—a moment of immense pride for our students and staff. The exhibit showcased a captivating project along with a diverse collection of student work from various classes, all centered around the wonders of astronomy. From detailed models of celestial bodies to student-designed infographics on space exploration, the booth reflected our students’ deep curiosity and enthusiasm for the universe. Special recognition goes to the students who registered for this enriching workshop—Hanan Anwar (10-3), Salma Abed (10-2), Yasmine Sharaiyra (10-3), and Naser Ismail (10-1)—whose contributions played a key role in making this achievement possible. This accomplishment stands as a testament to their hard work, teamwork, and passion for science.

World Science Day for Peace

Celebrating World Science Day for Peace, our students brought science to life by dressing up in lab coats and scientific attire. It was a fun and engaging way to express their enthusiasm for science while recognizing its powerful role in building a more peaceful and sustainable world.

Science Fair

The Science Fair was a vibrant celebration of our students' creativity, curiosity, and passion for scientific discovery. It provided a platform for learners to showcase their understanding through a wide range of innovative projects, hands-on experiments, and engaging presentations. From exploring renewable energy solutions to demonstrating chemical reactions and investigating biological processes, each exhibit reflected the students’ ability to apply scientific principles to real-world challenges. The event not only encouraged independent research and teamwork but also nurtured critical thinking and problem-solving skills. It was a proud moment for the school community to witness the next generation of scientists in action, confidently communicating their findings and inspiring others with their enthusiasm for learning.

In class activities

Our science classrooms are dynamic spaces where students are immersed in diverse learning experiences that promote inquiry, creativity, and teamwork. By engaging in practical experiments, tackling real-world problems, and working on group projects, students sharpened their analytical thinking and collaborative skills.
