Research interests
Our lab focuses on the pathogenesis of Candida and Aspergillus species. Adherence to the host cells is an important step for pathogens to establish infection. In fungi, the cAMP/protein kinase A signaling pathway regulates morphogenesis, stress tolerance, biofilm formation and virulence. In addition, the SAGA complex has been shown regulating gene expressions via histone acetylation, which is associated with fungal virulence. Hence, the functions of cAMP/protein kinase A signaling pathway in biofilm formation and stress tolerance in Candida glabrata and the roles of SAGA complex on development, biofilm formation and virulence in Aspergillus fumigatus are two major projects in the lab of molecular genetics of fungi.
