Week 4
April 29 - May 2
April 29 - May 2
Today was the first day back from break! The weather has finally gotten warmer which is perfect for the rest of our project! We enjoyed some time outside in the sun as we colored some detailed coloring books. The repetitive motion and rhythm of coloring in the detailed patterns was calming and satisfying. It was so nice to finally be able to be outside!
Today we face-timed Addie's Grandma who taught us some of the basic steps of crocheting! This was definitely tricky but it was fun to learn something new! I think that once we got the hang of it, it would definitely come in handy as a activity to do to get your mind off of things and rewind.
Today was our day of journaling. We started off by meeting at Starbucks to work on our blog. We spent an hour writing down our thoughts privately and getting everything on our minds on the paper. We found that journaling is a great way to reduce stress, process our emotions, improve self-awareness and better mood regulation.
For these two days to end off our successful creativity through mindfulness week, we debriefed all the activities we tried and wrote down our thoughts so we can remember what we want to highlight on our podcast. We also did research on these activities so we can explain in depth why these activities can help calm the body. We wanted to post a podcast a week, however we quickly realized that this would not be possible. We need to all three sit down at the end of the project and have a ongoing conversation. We want the podcasts to be useful for our community so we want to gather as much detail as we can before we start talking about each topic. We can't wait to finally get these podcasts up and running for everyone to see! In the mean time we will continue to research and test out activities!
