Yarning about Canada

Canada was the country chosen for this new project, and with that, our students enter this adventure to learn more about the culture, its states, and capitals as well as learn more about their local cuisine.

O Canadá foi o país escolhido para este novo projeto, com isso, nossos estudantes se aventuraram a desbravar a cultura deste país, conhecer os estados e suas capitais assim como aprender um pouco mais sobre a culinária do país.

Um Novo Projeto

Estamos dando um até breve para o nosso queridinho “Exchange Project”, mas ainda com a temática de conhecer novas culturas, os nossos estudantes iniciaram o segundo semestre com um novo projeto, o “Around the World”, em que escolhemos uma das sete maravilhas do mundo antigo e do mundo moderno para conhecermos e reproduzirmos o local em uma maquete funcional.

Os dois lugares escolhidos por nossos estudantes foram: O Farol de Alexandria e um dos lugares mais famosos por haver pedidos de casamento, o Taj Mahal.

A NEW PROJECT

We are saying a “we see you soon” to our beloved “Exchange Project”, but we’re still in the mood to meet new cultures and ways of living, so our students started our “Around the World” project, where each group selected one of the seven wonders of the modern and old world to know them better and recreate it in a functional maquette of this place.

The first two places chosen by our students are “The Lighthouse of Alexandria” and one of the most famous places to propose, the Taj Mahal.

Nas últimas semanas do nosso Exchange Project, refletimos sobre como foi nosso último encontro com Emma e nossas dificuldades, também revimos alguns trechos de nossas entrevistas anteriores e debatemos sobre como nos sentimos durante estes encontros. Em seguida, tivemos uma charada envolvendo as cantoras Rihanna e Katy Perry, uma praia e uma cama king size, que indicava de onde o nosso próximo convidado vinha.

Luca Aquino, nosso convidado, é produtor musical e possui um estúdio em que produz músicas do cenário hip hop. Descobrimos um pouco mais sobre ele, os locais que ele já viveu, como Nova Iorque, Holanda e, agora, Brasil. Além de como é feita a gravação de músicas, também pudemos ouvir um trecho de uma nova música que Luca está produzindo.

On our last weeks of Exchange Project, we reflected about how our last meeting with Emma happened and what our difficulties were. We also got to watch our previous interviews and debated on how we felt in those meetings. Next thing we had a charade involving the singers Rihana and Katty Perry, as well as a beautiful beach and a king size bed, which indicated where our next guest was coming from.

Luca Aquino, our new guest, is a musical producer and owns his own music studio where he produces the songs for hip hop singers. We got to find out a little more about him, the places where he has lived like New York, Netherlands and now Brazil, how is the recording process for voices and instruments and we had the chance to listen first hand to his new song.

Depois do nosso meet com o Raphael, nós fizemos uma roda de conversa para compartilhar e refletir sobre como foi este último contato, o que mais gostamos e quais foram as nossas dificuldades. Em seguida, tivemos uma dinâmica com dicas sobre o país de origem do nosso próximo convidado e tentamos adivinhar o nome do país enquanto jogávamos o jogo da forca. Após algumas tentativas, descobrimos que conheceríamos Emma, uma estudante de engenharia química que mora na França.

Em seguida, começamos a nossa pesquisa acerca da cultura do país em que Emma nasceu, sobre o curso superior que ela está fazendo e também sobre coisas que gostaríamos de conhecer sobre ela. Durante o meet, descobrimos que ela está passando um semestre no México e também conversamos sobre coisas que gostamos e até aprendemos algumas palavras em francês.

After our last Google Meet with Raphael, we sat down in a circle to talk, share and reflect about how our conversation with him was, what we liked the most about it and what were our difficulties. Next, we went into a dynamic full of clues about the country in which our next guest was born, and then, we tried to guess the name of the country in a hangman’s game. After a couple of tries, we found out that we were going to talk to Emma, a french girl who studies Chemical Engineering.

Then, we started our research about the country and the culture where Emma was born, her college subjects, and also the curiosities that we wanted to know about her. While we were on the Google Meet with her, she told us she’s taking a semester abroad in Mexico and we talked about things that we like and things she likes to do and we got to learn some French words!

Primeiramente durante as aulas do Exchange Project nós revisamos nosso meet com a Abril contamos sobre nossas dificuldades e facilidades do inglês na nossa roda de conversa e então nós começamos a pesquisar sobre Connecticut e elaborar as perguntas para o Raphael Carlos que é um brasileiro que durante muito tempo morou em um estado do Estados Unidos da América chamado Connecticut.

During our Exchange Project classes, we revisited our last conversation with Abril, we talked about our difficulties and the easiest parts in English, in our circle time. After that we started a research about Connecticut and elaborate questions to Raphael Carlos, who is a brazilian guy, who lived for a couple of years in a city within the state of Connecticut.

UPDATE #1

We already had our first guest on our Exchange Project, Abril Viladrich Arnó! Before we talk to her, we learnt a little bit about the culture of Catalonia, where she was born, but we also learned about London, Mexico, and Bulgaria, countries where she has traveled to and is living now, to make our conversation more deeply, in the end we even get time to teach her some words in Portuguese.

Tivemos a nossa primeira convidada do Exchange Project, Abril Viladrich Arnó! Antes do nosso bate-papo, mergulhamos na cultura da Catalunha, onde nossa convidada nasceu. Também conhecemos um pouco de Inglaterra, México e Bulgária, países que foram visitados por Abril, a fim de aprofundarmos a conversa e até mesmo ensinamos umas palavrinhas em português a ela!

Esta semana demos início ao nosso projeto de intercâmbio, neste primeiro momento, os nossos estudantes puderam conhecer mais sobre a cultura do país de onde a nossa convidada é, seus costumes, o folclore e também sobre a profissão da entrevistada, desse modo, o grupo pôde elaborar o conjunto de perguntas que farão em nosso próximo encontro.

This week we started our exchange project. In this first meeting, our students could learn about the culture of the country where our guest was born, her folklore and also about what is needed to become a guide tourist, so our group can create a series of questions to ask during the interview next week.
